Keep an eye on the shelves because The Chef's Choice, book #1 of the McBain's of Grace Harbor, debuts in August 2008.

In 2006, a girlfriend of mine got married at a little inn called the Dockside Guest Quarters in York Harbor, Maine. It was a gorgeous, romantic white inn set right on the water, and the minute I saw it I knew immediately that there was a book there. Fortunately, my editor agreed, and the McBains of Grace Harbor series was born.

I spent at the Dockside to find out what their world is all about. To understand the life of a chef (and, okay, to get some good cooking tips), I spent a day with Chef Jonathan Cartwright and his staff at the kitchen of the White Barn Inn, a five star establishment that has some of the best food in Maine.

Armed with all of that information, I wrote The Chef's Choice. I sincerely hope that it's as fun to read as it was to write.
